In-Use Monitor Performance Tracking (IUMPT) - CASE STUDY

Following this case study, I reached out to CARB to report my findings. While they appreciated the information, they weren't sure whether anything could be done, as Maseratis are low-production vehicles and there might not be enough data to warrant a fix. Well, almost two years later, a reflash was created to fix this issue. Here is that bulletin:

This was the intent of IUMPT: to identify vehicles not running their monitor tests frequently enough to detect when a system is failing, and to require the OEM to fix the vehicle. The problem is that there are not many Maserati dealers, so some consumers have to drive long distances to have their vehicles repaired.

This is why IUMPT was implemented. Fortunately, there is a way for the technician to use this to their advantage.
